40 Years On, Police Hunt Killer in Shelley Morgan Murder

Detectives have reignited their appeal for information in the cold case of Shelley Morgan, who vanished 40 years ago. On June 11, 1984, 33-year-old Shelley failed to collect her kids from school and never returned to her Bristol home on Dunkerry Road.

Body Found in Woodland, Stabbed Multiple Times

Shelley’s remains were tragically found four months later, on October 14, 1984, in woods near Backwell off Long Lane. The post-mortem revealed multiple stab wounds. Although there was no clear sign of sexual assault, cops believe the attack was sexually motivated.

Despite a thorough murder investigation, Shelley’s killer has never been caught.

Detective Vows to Crack the Case

Detective Inspector Dave Marchant, from the Major Crime Review Team, said: “Forty years may have passed, but our resolve hasn’t faded. We are determined to give Shelley’s family answers and bring her killer to justice if they’re still alive.”

Last Seen with Camera – Could It Help Solve the Mystery?

On her last day, Shelley was heading to Leigh Woods to take photos and sketch. Witnesses reported seeing her on a bus near Ashton Court. She wore a scarlet top, white skirt, maroon tights, and large red glasses, carrying a homemade patchwork bag and her prized 35mm Olympus OM20 camera.

Neither her clothes nor the camera have ever been found. Investigators hope the camera might still surface, as it remains popular with collectors. If you have one with serial number 1032853, contact police immediately.

Family Pleads for Answers

Shelley’s sister, Hollie Brian, reflected on the pain of loss: “For 35 years, I’ve watched Shelley’s life pass without her. It’s been silence in the life she never lived.” She urged anyone with information to come forward, seeking justice and closure.

Forensic Science Offers New Hope

Detective Marchant remains optimistic: “Modern forensic science gives us a chance to solve this horrendous 40-year-old crime. Public tips spark new leads and help us unravel unanswered questions.”

New Clues and Changing Loyalties May Break Case

Five years ago, two postcards showing Bristol’s River Avon and St. Andrew’s Church were released to the public. Though some leads went cold, police believe shifting relationships might reveal fresh information.

If you know anything about Shelley Morgan’s disappearance or her lost camera, contact the police now. The key to this decades-old mystery could be closer than we think.
