Payroll Boss Banned for £2.7 Million Mystery Payments
Jonas Stankevicius from Doncaster has been hit with an eight-year ban after failing to keep proper records at his payroll firm, S Jonas Solutions Limited.
Payroll Company Collapses After Just Months
Stankevicius was appointed sole director the day the firm was incorporated in July 2018. The company started trading from Stockhill Road, Doncaster, but went into voluntary liquidation a few months later, in December 2018.
£2.7 Million Payments Under Scrutiny
The Insolvency Service launched an investigation after discovering that Jonas had not maintained adequate bookkeeping. This meant investigators and liquidators could not verify the legitimacy of £2.73 million paid out from the company’s bank account between August and October 2018.
Worse still, the true tax owed remains unclear, with authorities claiming over £500,000 in unpaid tax during the liquidation.
Eight-Year Ban Sends Strong Message to Rogue Directors
On 15 September 2020, Stankevicius agreed to a disqualification undertaking, admitting he failed to keep or hand over proper accounts. The ban, effective from 6 October 2020, prevents him from managing or promoting any company without court permission.
Mark Bruce, Chief Investigator for the Insolvency Service, said: “All directors have a legal duty to maintain company accounting records. Jonas Stankevicius ignored this responsibility, leaving £2.7 million in payments unexplained over just two months. His misconduct has now caught up with him. This eight-year ban should serve as a stark warning to rogue directors that such behaviour will see you booted out of business for years.”
