Woman Starves Staffordshire Bull Terrier to Death in Horrific Neglect Case
Katy Louise Oldridge, 34, from #Hull HU3, has admitted starving her Staffordshire bull terrier, Frank, to death. The starving dog’s skeletal remains were discovered in the filthy kitchen of her home.
Filthy Home, Neglectful Care
The mother-of-two left a bowl of water but no food within Frank’s reach. The kitchen floor was covered in dried faeces, and the scene was described as revolting by inspectors.
Inspector Jilly Dickinson said: “The kitchen door had a baby gate in the frame. I found a dog food tin on the kitchen worktop which contained mouldy remains of food in the bottom of it and an empty box of dog treats which appeared to contain faeces. There was an overwhelming smell of faeces and decomposing flesh in the property.”
Horrific Discovery and Veterinary Report
As Frank’s body was placed into an RSPCA evidence bag, Inspector Dickinson noted a large amount of maggots dropping from the dog’s head. Frank was so thin that his bones were clearly visible.
The veterinary report concluded Frank likely suffered for weeks before his death. Emaciation and ingestion of foreign materials indicated extreme hunger, leading the dog to eat anything he could find. Lack of fat and muscle tissue showed he had no proper nutrition.
Sentencing and Ban
The court heard Oldridge had personal issues and had become dependent on alcohol before the offence.
- 18 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for two years
- 12 days Rehabilitation Activity Requirement
- 200 hours unpaid work in the community
- Ordered to pay £428 in costs and charges
- Lifetime ban on owning animals (appealable after 10 years)
The brutal neglect has shocked the community and highlighted the devastating impact of animal cruelty.
