A predator who dodged the law for nearly 20 years has finally been nailed thanks to a DNA breakthrough.
Chilling Supermarket Car Park Attack
On 7 October 2006, 25-year-old Kennedy Jimmy targeted a teenage girl and her friend in a supermarket car park in Shefford. After arriving with a mate, Jimmy waited until the girls went inside the shop. Then he dragged the victim into the back of a car and brutally raped her. The brave victim fought back, escaped, and ran to a nearby pub where her friend called the police.
DNA Breakthrough Cracks Cold Case
Jimmy, known to the victim as “Kenny,” slipped through justice during the original investigation. The case went cold—until Operation Painter, a specialist review by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, uncovered a forensic DNA match. This led to Jimmy’s arrest in November 2022.
Jail Time After Conviction
Now 44 and hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, Jimmy was found guilty of rape after a five-day trial at Luton Crown Court in October last year. He was locked up last Friday for six years and slapped with a lifelong restraining order, ensuring he stays away from his victim for good.
