Doncaster Man Jailed for 18 Years Over Child Abuse Horrors

Christopher Osborne, 38, from Doncaster, has been slammed with an 18-year prison sentence after being convicted of forcing two underage girls into sexual acts and filming them. The sickening case spanned eight years and involved victims in the United States who bravely reported his crimes to local authorities.

Manipulative Predator Targeted Teens Online

Osborne first groomed a 15-year-old girl in the US back in 2016 via social media. He bombarded her with violent messages and forced her to send explicit videos. Osborne threatened to post the footage online, warning he would “ruin their lives” if they refused to comply.

Investigation and Arrest

Authorities uncovered hours of disturbing chat logs exposing Osborne’s horrific misconduct. Working with US officials, the UK Internet Sex Offences Team tracked his IP address and arrested him in September 2016. During questioning, Osborne admitted to the offences but claimed he didn’t believe the girls were underage.

Guilty Plea Reinstated, Heavy Sentence Handed Down

Though initially pleading guilty, Osborne later changed his plea to not guilty in October 2022. However, a special six-day hearing in February 2024 saw him revert to guilty pleas before the victims’ families.

On June 5, 2024, Sheffield Crown Court sentenced Osborne to 18 years behind bars with an extended 23-year licence period. He admitted to inciting children to commit sexual acts and blackmail. Both victims bravely faced their abuser in court, delivering impact statements.

Detective Praises Victims’ Bravery

Detective Constable Joanne Vaughan said, “I would like to thank the victims in this case for their bravery in facing their abuser and travelling to court from the US twice over two years. I hope this result can help them move on with their lives and put this individual’s horrific behaviour behind them. We will continue to pursue sex offenders, no matter where and when they commit their crimes.”
