Reckless Overdrive Ends in Tragedy: Girl, 7, Killed on Lincolnshire Road
A 39-year-old man from Lincolnshire has been locked up for six years after a deadly stunt dive on a country lane claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl.
Deadly Crash on B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane
Veselin Dudenski, from Branston, was behind the wheel of a Citroen Relay van on the B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane near Metheringham on the evening of Friday, 3 January 2025, around 5.45pm. Ignoring clear warnings of a hidden dip, Dudenski launched a reckless overtaking manoeuvre.
Having just passed a Ford Ranger, he recklessly attempted to overtake a second vehicle on a bendy stretch of road with national speed limits and poor visibility.
Head-On Smash Kills Young Passenger
Misjudging the dangerous hill crest, Dudenski’s van collided head-on with a Kia Rio coming the other way. The Kia’s driver was seriously hurt. Heartbreakingly, little Elsie Gascoigne, 7, who was seated in the back, was critically injured and died in hospital the next morning.
Justice Served: Six Years for Dangerous Driving Death
Dudenski pled guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. At Lincoln Crown Court today, he was jailed for six years.
He also received an eight-year driving ban and must pass an extended driving test before he’s allowed back on the roads.
