Reckless Driver Jailed for Deadly Overtake Crash
Fatal Collision on B1192 Near Coningsby
Danielle Barrett, 28, has been locked up for six years after a deadly crash on the B1192 last July. Barrett dangerously overtook on a sharp bend, smashing head-on into a motorbike and killing 66-year-old Jeffrey Scott instantly.
On 21 July 2023 at around 8:25am, Barrett was driving her Vauxhall Corsa southbound towards Boston. Trying to pass a slow crop sprayer just before a left-hand bend, she swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with Mr Scott’s Ducati bike.
Motorcyclist Killed Instantly
The horrific impact hurled Mr Scott off his bike. He hit Barrett’s windscreen before crashing into a ditch, dying at the scene from his injuries.
Harsh Penalty for Dangerous Driving
Lincoln Crown Court hit Barrett with a six-year jail sentence. She’s also banned from driving for seven years and six months, and must pass an extended driving test before she can get behind the wheel again.
