Coventry Drug Dealer Sent Down After Police Find Kilo of Heroin in Taxi
Heroin Haul Found During Routine Stop
Keren Kumar, 32, was caught red-handed after cops stopped a taxi on Jimmy Hill Way, Coventry, last November. Sitting in the back of a Toyota Prius, Kumar seemed innocent at first — until officers found heroin hidden in his sock during a roadside search.
Massive Class A Drugs Stash Uncovered
The real shock came moments later. Police discovered a bag of heroin weighing over one kilogram hidden inside an Asda shopping bag near Kumar’s seat. That stash is worth a whopping £23,000 on the streets.
Kumar Jailed for 3 Years 6 Months
Initially denying all knowledge, Kumar later admitted possession with intent to supply. He appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on April 25 and was slapped with a 3½-year prison sentence. The nomad dealer has no fixed address.
Operation Target Cracks Down on Crime
Kumar was targeted in Operation Target, West Midlands Police’s fierce 24/7 blitz on organised crime. A spokesperson for the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit said:
“This arrest and conviction sends a strong message that drug dealers will be relentlessly pursued. Operation Target will continue to dismantle organised crime across the region.”
Police are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to help keep deadly drugs off our streets.
