Drug Dealer Jailed for 14 Years After Running Over Pedestrian in Hatfield
Brutal Hit-and-Run in Broad Daylight
Ali Jaber, 28, has been locked up for over 14 years after deliberately mashing down a man in his 20s on Wood Common, Hatfield. The shocking attack took place at around 5.40pm on January 3, 2024. Jaber used his twin brother Hossain’s black BMW to mow down a complete stranger, leaving the victim with multiple fractured ribs.
The violence didn’t end there. When the victim’s father rushed to his son’s aid, Ali Jaber tried to run him over too. Luckily, the dad escaped unharmed.
Drug Empire Exposed
The police investigation lifted the lid on a lucrative drugs operation run by twins Ali and Hossain Jaber. The pair were trafficking narcotics from Harrow into the Welwyn Hatfield area, making a tidy profit in the process.
Ali was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and multiple drug offences. At trial, the judge slammed the attack as “a calculated and violent act carried out with total disregard for human life.”
Police Praise Team Effort
“This was a violent and shocking attack on an innocent man and his father. Thankfully, both survived, but the impact on their lives has been profound. The sentence handed down reflects the seriousness of Ali Jaber’s crimes. We are also pleased to have dismantled a dangerous drug line in the process,”
said a spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police.
The investigation into further connections to the Jaber brothers’ drug network is ongoing, with authorities determined to stop their criminal activities for good.
