Essex Man Banned After Being Caught Drink-Driving in Chatham

Julian Cala, 43, from Caravel Close, Essex, has been slapped with an 18-month driving ban after being caught drink-driving in Chatham on New Year’s Eve.

Over the Limit

Cala pleaded guilty at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 26 January 2022. He blew a staggering 65 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath—almost double the legal limit of 35.

Fines and Costs

Alongside his driving ban, Cala was fined £553. He must also pay a £55 surcharge plus £85 in court costs.

The message is clear: don’t drink and drive, or face the hard-hitting consequences.
