Chilling Texts Reveal Killer’s Dark Deception Before Triple Murder
Kyle Clifford, 26, was handed three whole-life sentences for the gruesome murders of Louise Hunt, her mother Carol, and sister Hannah in a horrific crossbow attack in Bushey, Hertfordshire. The ex-soldier’s final chilling text exchanges with Louise were laid bare in court, exposing his cold-blooded lies before the five-hour nightmare at the family home on July 9, 2024.
Twisted Rampage Ends in Horror
- Clifford raped and murdered 25-year-old Louise during the relentless attack.
- He stabbed 61-year-old Carol eight times and killed 28-year-old Hannah with a crossbow bolt.
- After the murders, Clifford tried to take his own life, surviving but left paralysed.
During sentencing at Cambridge Crown Court, John Hunt, the devastated husband and father to the victims, revealed a heartbreaking final text from Louise thanking Clifford for their time together after their split. Clifford’s deceitful reply said, “I love you so much and I will for a very long time. I will always be here for you if you ever need me.”
But Mr Hunt told the court, “Louise meant every word, whereas you simply lied.”
Deceptive Killer’s Final Lies
Even while holding Louise hostage, Clifford twisted the truth. He sent texts posing as her to her father, attempting to hide the horror in real time. One text read: “What time are you home?” — to which Mr Hunt unwittingly replied with concern.
Court heard Clifford left disturbing suicide notes soaked in self-pity, trying to justify his horrific actions. One read: “I know you will all have so many questions… but there is simply nothing any of you could have done.” Another said: “I’m sorry I didn’t wait to move on and find my future wife… I just don’t want to live my life without her.”
Judge Mr Justice Joel Bennathan branded Clifford “a jealous man soaked in self-pity… a man who holds women in utter contempt,” sentencing him to life behind bars with no chance of parole.
A Legacy of Control and Abuse
Louise documented Clifford’s abusive behaviour before her murder — racist views, vicious controlling tactics, violence, and isolation from friends. He banned her from makeup, controlled her clothing, and cheated with other women.
Police revealed Clifford’s obsession with misogynistic content, including videos by notorious influencer Andrew Tate. Shocking footage was binged just one day before the attacks.
Family’s Heartbreaking Farewell
In a moving court tribute, Mr Hunt honoured his wife and daughters: “All their lives, Carol, Hannah and Louise brought joy and happiness to others. You killed three beautiful mockingbirds, Kyle.” Drawing on Louise’s favourite book To Kill a Mockingbird, he likened them to innocent birds whose only role was to bring happiness and music to the world.
He described the anguish of sitting with his family’s bodies for four hours in the funeral home. “I sat with Louise to my right, Hannah to my left, and Carol at the top of the room. I thanked her for being such a wonderful partner in life and a wonderful mother.”
His final words chilled the court: “The screams of hell, Kyle… I can hear them faintly now. They’re going to roll the red carpet out for you.”
Mr Hunt urged women everywhere to recognise the courage it takes to leave abusive relationships: “If you feel enough is enough — then it is.”
Justice Served, But At Terrible Cost
The judge also handed down sentences for rape, false imprisonment, and possession of weapons. Clifford refused to appear in court and was not restrained due to his paralysed state.
As the sentencing ended, Clifford was consigned to a life in prison — a punishment Mr Hunt called “a fate far greater than death.”
