Five men have landed behind bars for their roles in violent disorder in Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas. The chaos saw bricks flying and police officers assaulted. Here’s how each culprit was caught and convicted.

- Townley was caught on social media and bodycam footage grabbing a police shield and stirring up violence during a Hanley disturbance.
- Morris lobbed bricks and other missiles at officers and bystanders, repeatedly trying to break police lines, all captured on CCTV.
- Watkins challenged members of the public to fights and threatened police officers with a glass bottle; identified and arrested days later.
- Grocott also filmed throwing missiles and shouting aggressively at officers before being arrested.
Police Response: No Let-Up In Crackdown
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Ellison of Staffordshire Police said, “Those involved in these senseless acts are being identified and sent before the courts. More offenders will face prison as detectives tirelessly review evidence.”
Ellison promised further arrests are on the horizon as the investigation continues. The force urges anyone with tips to visit the Public Portal (mipp.police.uk) to help build the case.
Ongoing Efforts To Tackle Violence
This sentencing is part of a larger crackdown on disorder in the region, with police warning more charges will be made in the coming days. The message is clear: violent behaviour won’t be tolerated in Staffordshire.
