Folkestone Police Nab Theft Suspect in Early Morning Patrol
Kent Police have cracked down on vehicle crime in Cheriton’s Broadmead Village and Lancers areas after a series of thefts and damages. Two officers from the Folkestone Local Policing Team were out on patrol in the early hours of Thursday, 13 January 2022, when they made a major arrest.
Suspect Caught Red-Handed Near Gainsborough Close
At around 1.40am, police received a tip-off about an attempted theft from a car in Gainsborough Close, where the glove compartment had been rifled through. The officers, who were nearby in Cherry Garden Avenue, had just stopped to question a man walking in the area.
The 31-year-old Folkestone man was promptly arrested on suspicion of theft and vehicle interference.
More Charges Follow, Bail Granted
Once in custody, the man was also linked to three other thefts, two more attempted thefts, and one case of criminal damage in the same Cheriton area. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
