Met Police Officer Caught in Shocking Park Sex Act on Duty
Kevin Phillips, 56, sparked outrage after being secretly filmed committing a lewd offence on a park bench — while on duty with the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command. Despite resigning, he remains linked to the Met as investigations continue.
Shocking Footage Goes Viral
The clip, shared across social media, racked up tens of thousands of views. Phillips’ Met badge number was clear on camera, confirming his identity as an active officer at the time. The incident happened at East Dulwich’s Dog Kennel Hill Park.
“Phillips’ behaviour that day was repulsive and is contrary to everything the decent officers and staff of the Met stand for,” said Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens. “Such heinous behaviour has no place in the Metropolitan Police.”
Swift Police Action and Guilty Plea
- Police spotted the video late on Wednesday, March 30
- Phillips was arrested at his home the very next morning
- Charged with obstructing public decency, he pleaded guilty at Croydon Magistrates’ Court within 48 hours
- Bailed to appear at Croydon Crown Court for sentencing on June 16th
Chief Supt Ovens revealed officers worked through the night to secure Phillips’ arrest and praised the speed of the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Offences (DASO) professionalism team handling the probe.
Disgraceful Conduct Won’t Be Tolerated
Though Phillips resigned, an ongoing misconduct investigation continues. On May 26, a special hearing ruled that had he remained in the force, Phillips would have faced instant dismissal.
DASO, the Met’s specialist unit launched in January, leads investigations into sexual misconduct and domestic abuse by officers. The 30-strong team is committed to rooting out wrongdoing within the force and supporting victims.
Chief Supt Ovens said: “We’re taking genuine steps to rebuild public trust, including two independent reviews and boosting our investigation teams. We will not tolerate behaviour that undermines confidence in our police.”
