Ex-Premier League Star Colin Hendry Jailed for Stalking Ex-Partner
Six Months of Harassment
Former Premier League defender Colin Hendry, 59, has been slammed in court after pleading guilty to harassing his ex-partner. The Preston Magistrates’ Court heard Hendry bombarded the victim with relentless contact over six months following their breakup.
Despite clear requests to stop, Hendry sent dozens of emails from multiple accounts, made anonymous calls with No Caller ID, and even reached out via LinkedIn after being blocked. He also turned up uninvited at her home, leaving unwanted gifts and flowers.
Victim Left Fearful and Anxious
The victim told Lancashire Police Hendry’s actions left her “depressed and anxious” and scared to leave her house. Officers warned Hendry to back off, but he ignored them and kept contacting her.
Natasha Clark, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “Colin Hendry harassed a former partner for over six months after their relationship ended. His behaviour was intimidating and persistent, causing the victim immense distress. This outcome shows the CPS takes harassment seriously, whether in person or online.”
Hendry’s Weak Defence Falls Flat
Hendry tried to claim he was only concerned for the victim and her dog, insisting his actions weren’t harassment. But prosecutors proved the constant, unwanted contact amounted to serious harassment. The victim’s mental health suffered badly, with constant fear of surprise visits.
Hendry has now been sentenced, though details of his punishment remain under wraps.
