Ex-Soldier Daniel Khalife Denies Daring Wandsworth Prison Escape
Former soldier Daniel Khalife, 21, has pleaded not guilty after allegedly breaking out of Wandsworth Prison in London. He appeared via video link from high-security HMP Belmarsh, where he is currently held.
How Did He Escape? Bedsheets and a Food Delivery Van
The dramatic escape happened on September 6. Authorities claim Khalife strapped himself under a food delivery van using bedsheets to slip out unnoticed. He then spent four days on the run before being caught.
Captured by Undercover Cop on Canal Towpath
Khalife’s freedom came to an end on September 9 when a plain-clothes counter-terrorism officer nabbed him cycling along a canal towpath in Northolt, west London. At his court hearing, Khalife stood firm, declaring, “I am not guilty.”
Next Court Dates Set for Terror-Related Charges
The case is far from over. A further hearing is lined up for October 13 at the Old Bailey, with a full trial scheduled for November 13 at Woolwich Crown Court. Khalife faces charges that include preparing an act of terrorism and making a bomb hoax.
