600 Cannabis Plants Found in Wollaton Grow House Bust
Police uncovered a massive cannabis farm after executing a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at neighbouring Ringwood Crescent homes in Wollaton early Tuesday morning.
Underground Grow Operation Put Homes at Risk
Officers arrived just after 7am on 20 December 2022 and found around 600 cannabis plants. A shocking discovery followed — someone had dug underneath the semi-detached properties to create extra space for the grow. Bricks supporting the foundations were removed, threatening the structural integrity of both houses.
Electric wiring had been tampered with, adding serious hazards to the scene. A structural engineer was called in and will work with the landlord to make urgent repairs. The scene remains cordoned off as safety measures are put in place.
Two Men Arrested Fleeing Scene
During the raid, two men tried to escape but were swiftly caught. Bac Van Nguyen, 44, and Binh Quach, 24 — both with no fixed address — have been charged with cultivation of cannabis. They were remanded in custody and are set to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 22 December.
Inspector Peter Shaw said: “Officers acted on intelligence to uncover a significant cannabis grow. The digging under the houses was extremely dangerous. We’re working closely with the landlord to fix the damage and keep residents safe.”
