Police Hunt Blonde Woman After Brutal Attack on Officer in Chichester

Police in Chichester are on the lookout for a young woman in connection with a vicious assault on a police officer. The officer was attacked while trying to help victims of a street fight late on Friday night.

Officer Punched and Kicked in Chichester City Centre

The 31-year-old constable responded to a street fight in East Street shortly after 10pm on 11 September. While assisting young women who were being attacked, he was assaulted by a group. The officer gave chase on foot into South Pallant but was again punched and kicked.

Suspects Arrested as Teens Rush to Officer’s Aid

Thanks to quick-thinking teenagers at the scene, officers were directed to the injured policeman. Three boys aged 16 and a 15-year-old girl were arrested. Two boys and the girl face charges of obstructing police as well as assault. The remaining boy was released without charge.

Injured Officer Hospitalised but Recovering

The officer was taken to St Richard’s Hospital and has since been released but is not yet fit for duty. Several others involved in the fight also received hospital treatment. Two suspects have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Wanted: Blonde Woman Seen at Scene

Police describe the woman wanted for questioning as white, late teens, slim build with long blonde hair. She was last seen wearing white jeans, a grey top, and knee-high black boots.

Chief Inspector Jon Carter said: “This was an attack on a police officer doing his duty. Thankfully, young people helped locate him and assisted in detaining a suspect, likely preventing further injury. Our officers responded swiftly and arrests were made. Investigations continue.”
