Wellingborough Drug Gang Busted in Major Police Sting
Four criminals linked to a ruthless drugs and modern slavery ring were finally sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on August 5. Micah Thomas, 32, his brother Marlie Ashby, 27, along with Twvarni Riviere, 20, and Jahmani Mitchell, 19, were found guilty after a high-profile trial ended in May.
Two-Year Police Hunt Brings Gang to Justice
Their downfall followed a two-year probe by Northamptonshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Team. The investigation targeted Micah Thomas, the gang’s kingpin, who masterminded a sprawling drugs network across Kiln Way and Queensway in Wellingborough during 2019 and 2020.
Brother Duo Ran Heroin and Crack Empire
Thomas and Ashby controlled the supply of kilos of heroin and crack cocaine, raking in huge profits. They exploited vulnerable locals and even children to push drugs onto the streets, devastating their community.
Police Praise Brave Witnesses
Detective Constable James Roe said: “I am really pleased with the sentences handed out by the court. This was a difficult and demanding investigation, requiring continuous attention and consideration.”
“The sentences reflect the seriousness of the offences committed and the significant impact the gang’s actions have had within the local community in Wellingborough over recent years.”
“I want to thank the members of the public who supported this case. It took real bravery to stand up and provide information and evidence against this particular group of offenders.”
