Four Men Charged After Brutal Maidstone Pub Attack
Maidstone, Kent – A shocking assault outside a Maidstone pub has left one man unconscious and the community reeling. Four men, including two from Erith and Belvedere, have now been charged after the violent incident in the early hours of August 4.
Victim Brutally Attacked in Earl Street
Just after midnight, on Earl Street, a man was found unconscious following a savage attack. Witnesses say he was headbutted by one attacker before others jumped in. The assault escalated as the victim was repeatedly stamped on and struck with a glass bottle while down on the ground.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the victim was hospitalised. Thankfully, he has since been discharged, but the violent nature of the attack has left Maidstone residents shaken.
Four Arrested and Charged with GBH and Affray
Following a swift police investigation, four men were arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and affray. Those charged are:
- Jonjo Burke, 39, of Woodcut, Maidstone
- James Tidy, 33, of Hazel Road, Erith
- Gary King, 32, of Bellring Close, Belvedere
- James Anderson, 45, of Grainger Walk, Tonbridge
Burke, Tidy, and King appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on August 6 and were granted conditional bail. Their next hearing is set for October 2 at Maidstone Crown Court.
James Anderson was remanded in custody and will appear in court on October 3.
