Chaos Outside Bridewell: Four Jailed After Police Station Riot

Kane Adamson, Brandon Lloyd, Kain Simmonds, and Stuart Quinn have been handed hefty prison sentences after admitting to violent attacks outside Bridewell Police Station. The gang’s rampage left officers fearing for their lives during a brutal night of unrest on 21 March.

Today, Bristol Crown Court locked them up for a combined total of nearly 14 years. A fifth offender, Yasmin Schneider, was also jailed for offensive behaviour during the riot.

Violence on the Streets

  • Kane Adamson, 21, from Lockleaze, hurled road signs, a barrier, and an electric scooter at police. He also punched and kicked officers’ shields. Sentenced to 3 years 6 months.
  • Brandon Lloyd, 21, from Henbury, shoved and kicked shields, assaulted a police constable, and smashed station windows. Jailed for 3 years 11 months.
  • Kain Simmonds, 18, of Birmingham, sprayed an officer with aerosol, kicked shields and windows, and battered a police van. Sentenced to 3 years 3 months at a young offenders institution.
  • Stuart Quinn, 46, from St Paul’s, Bristol, incited attacks, threw objects, and damaged a police van. Received 3 years 3 months in prison.
  • Yasmin Schneider, 25, also from St Paul’s, urinated near officers and exposed themselves. Jailed for 5 months.

Judge Slams ‘Dehumanising’ Violence

“I have read all of the victim personal statements and I found them very moving. Many officers were injured and their families deeply affected,” said His Honour Judge James Patrick. “Officers were struck, spat on, kicked, and punched, some while defenceless on the ground. Some feared for their lives and couldn’t even tell their families. This lasted from evening until early hours. You dehumanised them.”

Police and CPS: Violence Will Not Be Tolerated

Chief Superintendent Carolyn Belafonte, Head of Investigations, called the riot “reprehensible” and “unrelated to any protest.” She revealed 44 officers were assaulted during the siege.

“Kane Adamson and the others have accepted responsibility, as did Yasmin Schneider for their disgusting actions,” she said. “The destruction cost taxpayers £212,000 just in damage to the station and police vehicles.”

Belafonte praised the “largest investigation ever” by the force, with 75 arrests and 29 charged so far. “We won’t stop until justice is done,” she vowed.

James Le Grys from CPS South West stressed the right to protest but warned: “Violence and destruction will lead to serious charges. The criminals targeted police purposely, causing havoc and fear.”

Legal proceedings for other defendants linked to the riot are ongoing.
