Birmingham Brothers Banned from Drill Videos Glorifying Gun Crime
Two brothers from Kingstanding, Birmingham, have been slapped with court bans stopping them from appearing in gang-related drill music videos that glorify gun and drug crimes. Kareem and Theo White featured in several YouTube clips where their gang fired coded threats at rivals.
Rapper Kareem Glorifies Violence in Stolen Car Video
In one chilling video, 27-year-old Kareem raps about cruising into enemy territory in a stolen car and gunning down rivals. His elder brother, 32-year-old Theo, appears in at least three videos. The pair now face court if they appear in any more gang-themed videos after Birmingham’s Organised Crime & Gangs Unit secured tough legal injunctions against them.
Two-Year Injunction Bars Videos & Entry to Key Birmingham Areas
The Birmingham County Court imposed the orders on 14 May. The injunctions ban Kareem and Theo from “creating or publishing any audio-visual material that incites or encourages crime, gang violence, or membership.” The brothers are also barred from entering major city hotspots including Handsworth, Lozells, Winson Green, Hockley, Newtown, and Ladywood for two years.
Defy Order and Face Jail or Heavy Fines
If the brothers break the injunctions, they will be hauled back to court and risk jail time or hefty fines. This move marks the latest crackdown on violent crime in Birmingham, aiming to keep local communities safer.
Detective Inspector Dawn Burns, Birmingham Organised Crime & Gangs Unit, said: “Kareem was a prominent figure in at least five gang drill music videos… he’s front and centre rapping about committing serious acts of violence.”
“There’s no proof the videos directly sparked violence, but the lyrics glorify gang crime. The court’s injunctions will seriously disrupt their activities, and if they don’t comply, they risk jail.”
