Two Guilty of Murder, Two Convicted of Manslaughter
A brutal gang attack has led to convictions today, Tuesday 28 January. Two men were found guilty of murder, while a man and a woman were convicted of manslaughter in the death of Courtney Valentine-Brown.
Fatal Stabbing in Southend
Courtney Valentine-Brown, 36, was discovered with a stab wound to his leg at a home on Roots Hall Drive, Southend, just before midnight on Thursday 21 February. Despite desperate efforts from police and paramedics to save him, Courtney tragically died – just days after his birthday.
Basildon Crown Court Delivers Verdict
- Ian Slater, 50, of Wayletts, Leigh-on-Sea – found guilty of murder
- Alex Stephens, 36, of Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff – found guilty of murder
- Kelly King, 31, of Roots Hall Drive, Southend – convicted of manslaughter
- Stuart Pearson, 44, of Satanita Road, Westcliff – convicted of manslaughter
Justice was served after the jury’s unanimous decision at Basildon Crown Court, bringing some closure to the tragic killing that shocked the Southend community.
