Hammer-Wielding Robber Jailed After Terrifying Shoreham Co-op Heist

A violent drunk thief threatened staff with a hammer during a terrifying robbery at a Shoreham Co-op. Jack Reeder, 33, from Hove, has been locked up for two years and ten months.

On 22 July at Sussex Crown Court, Reeder was sentenced after barging into the convenience store intoxicated and armed with a hammer. The shocking attack left staff shaken but thankfully unharmed.

Detective Inspector Andrew Ricks applauded the witnesses who bravely came forward. “This case has had a lasting emotional impact on the victims, and we were determined to bring justice,” he said. “Tackling retail crime remains a priority, and we’re pleased Reeder will serve a significant custodial sentence.”
