Ex-Cop Caught Stealing Woman’s Knickers During Home Search
A former Hertfordshire police officer has been jailed for nicking underwear from a woman’s home during a search. Senior officers slammed the act as a “fundamental betrayal of the public.”
Marcin Zielinski Jailed for Four Months
Marcin Zielinski, 27, from Shefford, Bedfordshire, was handed a four-month prison sentence at 1 Crown Court on 18 August. He pleaded guilty to one count of theft and a charge of corrupt or improper use of police powers.
The Underwear Swipe During a Section 32 Search
The court was told Zielinski pinched the woman’s underwear while conducting a Section 32 search at a Stevenage property on 12 September 2024. The woman was arrested on unrelated charges but later released without any action.
Zielinski quit Hertfordshire Constabulary in November 2024 amid the investigation.
Senior Police Slam Ex-Officer’s Shameful Act
“Zielinski has let down the public of Hertfordshire, the police service as a whole and his former colleagues, who act with professionalism and integrity. His criminal behaviour damages the reputation of policing and represents a fundamental betrayal of the public and the values for which the police service stands,” said Assistant Chief Constable Genna Telfer.
Zielinski is now banned from working in policing for good.
