A man has been slammed with over a decade behind bars after a noise complaint at a Yorkshire hotel turned violently ugly.

Noise Dispute Sparks Brutal Attack

Adam Sylvester, 29, sparked mayhem last April at the Featherstone Hotel on Station Road. Annoyed by the noise, he knocked on another guest’s door to complain. But what should have been a simple gripe exploded into a vicious assault. Sylvester headbutted and punched the victim repeatedly, causing serious facial and head injuries.

Harsh Sentence Handed Down at Leeds Crown Court

In court on Monday, Sylvester, who has no fixed address, admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent just as his trial was about to start. He was handed a jail term of 7 years and 2 months. Due to the savage nature of the attack, the judge added an extended sentence of 4 years.

The total sentence: a massive 11 years and 2 months behind bars.

Detective Welcomes Strong Punishment

“This was a horrific attack which resulted in the victim suffering serious and long-lasting face and head injuries,” said Detective Constable Matthew Sherriff of Wakefield CID. “I’m pleased that justice has been served and that the court saw fit to hand down an extended sentence that reflects the truly violent course of action taken by Sylvester.”
