‘I HOPE THIS HAUNTS YOU!’ Baby Killer’s Chilling Parting Shot to Jury
Nicola Brown, 43, from Portsmouth, was today found guilty of brutally murdering her 19-day-old baby son, Jake Long. The sickening killing took place in December 2014.
Ticking Timebomb Mum Sentenced for Baby’s Death
In a harrowing trial, Brown was branded a “ticking timebomb” after the court heard how she battered baby Jake to death with a fatal blow to the head. The newborn was subjected to a horrific catalogue of abuse during his short life.
As the guilty verdict was read out, Brown stunned everyone by yelling at the jurors: “I hope this haunts you to the day you die.”
Justice for Baby Jake – But Family Shattered
Brown was remanded in custody and will face sentencing after Christmas.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Scott MacKechnie said:
“Although Nicola Brown has been brought to justice here today, Jake’s death and this tragic trial have broken a family apart. This is a difficult time for his extended family and our thoughts are with them.
“The treatment of newborn Jake by his own mother is both upsetting and shocking. This has been a complex investigation piecing together evidence from Jake’s brief 19 days of life to determine how he died and who was responsible.
“Identifying and protecting those who need help remains a priority.”
