Tragic Toddler Jayla-Jean Dies After Horrific Injuries
A man and woman have been arrested over the chilling death of one-year-old Jayla-Jean Mclaren on the Isle of Wight. The toddler died in hospital after suffering severe injuries.
Arrests Made as Investigation Intensifies
Jayla-Jean was rushed to hospital on 1 August with life-threatening wounds. She tragically passed away two days later, on Sunday 3 August.
Police initially arrested a 31-year-old man and 27-year-old woman on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both were bailed but have now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder amid an ongoing probe.

Police Appeal for Calm and Information
Detective Superintendent Rod Kenny said the case has deeply shaken the local community.
“The arrests made today are just one part of a much wider set of inquiries in our investigation to establish exactly what happened to Jayla-Jean, and those inquiries remain ongoing. We would like to reiterate that you should not speculate on this case, particularly on social media, as this could affect our investigation.”
