Portslade Man Jailed for Brutal Assault on Woman
A 33-year-old man from Portslade has been locked up after a violent attack on a woman in her 20s. Damian Manning subjected his victim to a savage assault that left her seriously injured.
Violent Attack in the Early Hours
The brutal incident took place on 29 August 2022. Police arrived at a Lincoln Road property around 7am following reports of a disturbance. Officers quickly separated Manning from the victim to investigate.
Manning was arrested on the spot and charged with intentional strangulation, causing actual bodily harm, making threats to kill, and criminal damage.
Guilty Plea and Sentencing
He pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation. Manning was also found guilty of one count of criminal damage but cleared of making threats to kill and a second criminal damage charge.
At Hove Crown Court on Thursday, 8 February, Manning was sentenced to 13 months behind bars. He also received a restraining order forbidding any contact with the victim and banning him from visiting her known addresses.
