Man Targets Women in Alleyway – Police Hunt Suspect

Kent Police are on the lookout after two troubling incidents in the same alley between Cedar Avenue and Hever Court Road.

Woman Attacked and Another Exposed To

On Sunday 23 May 2021 around 11.30am, a woman was walking through the alley when a man snuck up behind her and covered her mouth. She screamed for help, prompting the attacker to flee towards Cedar Avenue.

In a separate incident, at about 7.45am on Saturday 12 June, another woman was subjected to indecent exposure while walking in the same alley.

Suspect Description and Police Action

  • Both victims describe the suspect as white, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins tall, medium build.
  • Police have boosted patrols in the area and interviewed potential witnesses.
  • CCTV footage has been collected and forensic tests are underway.

Detective Issues Urgent Appeal

“We’ve made progress but need the public’s help,” said Detective Inspector Pete Smith of the North Kent Crime Investigation Department. “We’re keeping an open mind about whether these attacks are linked and urge anyone who’s seen a suspicious man or has CCTV footage to come forward.”

“Extra patrols will continue, but we rely on local info to catch this suspect.”
