Detectives probing the brutal killing of Marianne Kilonzi, a 43-year-old Citibank vice president, fear the prime suspect may have fled the UK. Ms Kilonzi was found battered to death in her Woolwich home on Friday, January 17.

London’s Metropolitan Police suspect the attacker was someone she knew and are racing to track them down – even overseas. Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, heading the probe, promised a “fast pace” investigation.

Emergency services were called over welfare fears on January 17. A post-mortem revealed Ms Kilonzi died from blunt force trauma and serious head injuries. Police have kept the suspect’s identity under wraps as the hunt continues.

DCI Soren urged calm, stressing the suspect was likely someone known to Marianne. “There is no wider risk to the public,” she said, attempting to soothe a shaken local community.

A Citibank spokesperson said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. Our thoughts are with Marianne’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

The police are calling for witnesses or anyone with helpful info to contact the Met Police on 101, quoting CAD 5231/17Jan. Alternatively, calls can be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
