Knife Scooter Rampage: Man Stabs Five Strangers Across Mansfield
A chilling stabbing spree rocked Mansfield after Junior Dietlin plunged a knife into five strangers over several days. The freakish attacks sparked a huge police hunt ending in a dramatic takedown by a fearless police dog.
Unprovoked Attacks on Electric Scooter
Dietlin targeted his victims in and around Mansfield town centre on the nights of February 11 and 12, 2023. Each victim suffered stab wounds to the arm in sudden, unprovoked assaults by a man riding a lime-green electric scooter.
Another assault reported on February 8 in Blyth Street, Mapperley, bore the same chilling hallmarks.
Major Manhunt Led to Police Dog Takedown
Nottinghamshire Police launched a major probe, sifting through hours of CCTV and deploying plain-clothes officers on the streets.
On February 13, Dietlin was spotted riding his scooter through town. When challenged by cops, he panicked and fled—but his scooter was no match for Police Dog Wolf.
Wolf lunged at Dietlin’s arm, dragging him to the ground and bringing an end to the terror spree.
Officers arrested Dietlin at the scene. His scooter and clothing matched eyewitness descriptions, while a locking-style blade and a kitchen knife linked to the attacks were found nearby.
Guilty Despite Mental Health Claims
Dietlin, from Ransom Drive, Nottingham, denied the attacks and claimed he was on his way to the shops when caught. He has paranoid schizophrenia but repeatedly denied involvement.
Still, he was found guilty of five counts of malicious wounding and four counts of carrying a bladed article in public.
At Leicester Crown Court on April 12, Dietlin received an indefinite hospital order, meaning he cannot leave without approval from the Secretary of State for Justice—keeping the public safe from his violent rampage.
