Life-sentenced Murderer Strikes Again Inside Prison
Koci Selamaj, the man locked up for life over the brutal murder of primary school teacher Sabina Nessa, has confessed to attacking two prison officers while serving his sentence.
The 36-year-old garage worker is already behind bars for the savage killing of 28-year-old Ms Nessa, who was attacked as she walked through Cator Park in Kidbrooke in September 2021.
Newcastle Court Hears About Violent Prison Incident
Selamaj appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on April 11, where he pleaded guilty to wounding one officer with intent and assaulting another, causing actual bodily harm. The violent outburst occurred at Frankland Prison in County Durham on May 8 last year.
He is due back at Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing on June 14.
Monster’s Sickening Past
Selamaj’s new guilty plea adds to his dark record. He refused to show up in court for his Old Bailey sentencing over Ms Nessa’s murder, sparking public outrage.
His ruthless crime shook the nation. Selamaj travelled from the south coast to London to carry out a premeditated attack on the innocent teacher. CCTV footage revealed the horror as he struck Ms Nessa 34 times with a 2ft-long metal traffic triangle before sexually assaulting and strangling her. He then covered her body with grass.
Ms Nessa, a passionate educator at Rushey Green Primary School in Catford, was found dead nearly 24 hours later near a community centre in the park.
Justice for Sabina Nessa
Selamaj was arrested days later in Eastbourne. During sentencing, Mr Justice Sweeney branded the attack “savage” and “sexually motivated,” describing Ms Nessa as a “wholly blameless victim” of an “absolutely appalling murder.”
Her tragic death has reignited fears about the safety of women walking alone at night in urban areas.
