Killer Duo Convicted Over Brutal Leicester Abduction and Murder
Daryoush Kholghnik and Talib Mombeini have been found guilty in Leicester for the horrific abduction and killing of 53-year-old Tala Tala. The verdict came on Friday, with Kholghnik convicted of murder and Mombeini found guilty of manslaughter.
Horrific Attack: 190 Cuts and 17 Stab Wounds
The chilling crime unfolded on the night of 23 March when Mr. Tala was kidnapped from his car in Braunstone around 11.30pm. The pair dragged him to a house on Harrow Road, Westcotes, where he suffered a savage beating. The victim endured 190 cuts and 17 stab wounds in a brutal assault that left him fatally injured.
Kholghnik and Mombeini coldly contacted Mr. Tala’s family during the attack, demanding cash in exchange for medical help. Police were eventually alerted and found blood inside and outside Mr. Tala’s abandoned vehicle nearby.
Failed Rescue and a Motive of Revenge
Officers arrived at the property to find Mr. Tala with catastrophic injuries to his head, torso, and limbs. Despite desperate first aid efforts, he died 50 minutes later.
The attack is believed to stem from a money scam, with the killers having been defrauded by Mr. Tala previously—a deadly act of revenge gone too far.
Court Drama and Family Heartbreak
Kholghnik, 34, now faces charges of kidnap, murder, and two counts of blackmail. Mombeini, 38, pleaded guilty to kidnap, was convicted of manslaughter, but cleared of murder. Sentencing is scheduled for Monday at 1 Crown Court.
“Violence is never justifiable, no matter the decisions made,” said Mr. Tala’s grieving family. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski of Leicestershire Police called the torture “horrific” and extended his condolences to the victim’s relatives struggling with the case’s traumatic details.
Leicester Left Reeling
This brutal crime has shocked the local community, a stark reminder of the deadly cost grief and greed can inflict. As sentencing looms, all eyes remain on the victim’s family and the lasting scar left on Leicester by this awful tragedy.
