Lewisham Cop Arrested After Drunken Brawl in Woolwich
PC Randeep Phull, a Lewisham police officer, was arrested after a drunken street fight in Woolwich, a misconduct hearing has revealed. The clash happened on March 20, 2021, near an allotment in the SE18 area.
Police Called After Aggressive Argument
Passersby reported a violent dispute between a group of men. When officers arrived, they found PC Phull engaged in a physical fight with his brother, exchanging punches and kicks. Tensions escalated so much that officers drew tasers to control the situation.
Investigation Clears No Further Action
PC Phull was taken to Lewisham Police Station, but after investigation, no charges of affray were pursued. The misconduct hearing on May 15, 2024, examined the details despite Phull having left the Met Police service.
Panel Finds Drinking Behind the Row, But Remorse Shown
The panel established that PC Phull had been drinking for four to five hours before the incident. Although his brother started the aggression, Phull initially tried to calm things down. Violence broke out later, but no major injuries occurred due to their drunken state.
Panel comment: “PC Phull showed genuine remorse and his actions do not warrant dismissal from the police force.”
Since PC Phull has left the force, no formal sanctions were imposed after the hearing.
