Massive Cliff Rescue as Man Cut Off by Tide in Seaford
Coastguard Scramble After Man Stranded on Cliffs
Coastguard teams from Newhaven and Burling Gap launched a dramatic rescue tonight after a man got trapped on the cliffs at Seaford Head. The alarm was raised around 7pm by a passerby who spotted the stranded man cut off by the incoming tide.
Cliff Technician Lowered to Save Uninjured Man
The man, who had apparently ventured down from the cliffs carrying a guitar, found himself unable to escape the rising water. Thankfully, he was uninjured but couldn’t self-rescue. A cliff technician was lowered over the edge to reach him safely near Splashpoint on Seaford Head Beach.
10 Coastguards Join Forces in Tense Operation
About ten Coastguard Rescue Officers from two teams worked together in the complex rescue mission. Emergency services responded swiftly after multiple reports from locals who heard the rescue efforts underway.
“The man has been located and we are assessing the safest way to reach and bring him back,” a coastguard source said.
The incident highlights the dangers of cliff adventures, especially when tides turn fast. Thanks to the prompt response of the Coastguard, the man’s seaside escapade ended without injury.
