Prolific Fraudster Nabbed: Nina Tiara Gets 10 Years Behind Bars

Narinder Kaur, 54, aka Nina Tiara, has been slammed with a hefty 10-year prison sentence at Gloucester Crown Court. The Cleverton woman faced 26 charges, including fraud, money laundering, and perverting the course of justice.

£500k Scam Spanning the UK

Kaur’s deceit was nothing short of massive. The judge branded her dishonesty “Olympian” in scale, with her home a “treasure trove” of ill-gotten gains. Between 2015 and 2019, she raked in around £2,000 a week by stealing from high street shops and cheating refunds. That adds up to over half a million pounds in stolen goods and fake refunds.

Her scams didn’t stop there. While under investigation, Kaur used stolen credit card details to defraud other businesses nationwide.

West Mercia Police Strike Back

Steve Tristram, fraud investigator at West Mercia Police, said: “This sentence sends a clear message—prolific fraudsters won’t get away with it. Kaur was a calculating criminal who showed no remorse and even tried to trick the court with false documents.”

The police launched a multi-agency probe in 2018, teaming up with National Business Crime Solution and other forces. Their work uncovered fraudulent bank activity that nailed Kaur.

From Theft to Intimidation: A Trail of Crime

  • First caught by Wiltshire Police in 2016 for theft.
  • Hundreds of stolen items and £113,800 cash seized from her home near Malmesbury in 2020.
  • Arrested trying to scam refunds at Dunelm, Swindon, in October 2020.
  • Threatened Dunelm staff to stop them giving witness statements—arrested for intimidation.
  • Repeatedly breached court bail, caught trying to scam Asda stores in Melksham and Swindon.
  • Found hiding £38,000 cash behind a water heater in a third home search.

Detective Inspector Tom Straker said: “Kaur treated crime like her day job, travelling across the country under around 17 aliases. She tried to bully both police and witnesses, but thanks to dedicated officers and public help, she’s now locked up for a long time.”
