Man Charged with Helping Killer After Bexley Mum Fatally Stabbed
A shocking murder has rocked the Bexley community after a local mother was fatally stabbed. Now, a man has appeared in court accused of helping the alleged killer cover up the crime.
Leila Young Found Critically Injured
Leila Young, 33, was discovered seriously wounded on Penhill Road just after 4pm on January 16. Despite rushed hospital treatment, she tragically died from her injuries on the evening of January 23.
Leila’s partner, Tony Curant, also 33, was arrested on January 20 before her death. He faces charges of fatally stabbing her in the neck and head.
Accomplice Richard Ray Appears at Woolwich Crown Court
On February 15, Richard Ray, 33, from Swanley, appeared via video link at Woolwich Crown Court. Ray is accused of assisting Curant by helping conceal evidence, including three mobile phones.
Wearing a yellow jacket and speaking only to confirm his name, Ray remains in custody at HMP Belmarsh. Both Ray and Curant will enter pleas at a hearing scheduled for April.

The case has plunged the local community into grief. Floral tributes, candles, bouquets, and heartfelt notes now mark the tragic scene on Penhill Road. One note mourned the “heartbreaking loss,” while another honoured Leila’s role as a loving mother.
