A 29-year-old man has been snared in Birmingham during a tough crackdown on people smuggling adverts flooding social media.
Major Bust in Handsworth
Early on Monday, 22 December, police swooped on a property on Holyhead Road, Handsworth, arresting an Indian national. He’s suspected of working for a ruthless crime gang moving migrants illegally in lorries.
The man has been charged with facilitating illegal immigration. He remains in custody, being grilled by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and West Midlands Police.
Gadgets Seized, Second Man Caught
Officers seized laptops and phones to crack open the full smuggling network. During the raid, a second man was detained for being in the UK illegally and is now in the hands of immigration officials.
NCA Cracks Down on Migrant Crime
NCA Branch Commander Kevin Broadhead said: “Tackling organised immigration crime remains a priority for the NCA. We are determined to target, disrupt and dismantle these networks. Our investigation, alongside West Midlands Police, continues following this arrest.”
This operation sends a sharp warning to criminal gangs profiting from dangerous smuggling: the law is closing in and won’t back down.
