Man Nabbed Near Parliament with Bow and Arrow
A man was arrested early morning near the Houses of Parliament after police found a bow and arrow in his car.
Armed and Dangerous? Not Quite
The arrest happened just after 6:15 am on September 25 near Westminster’s Peers car park. Officers from the Metropolitan Police swooped on the man, who was suspected of carrying an offensive weapon.
Serious Charges and Mental Health Intervention
He wasn’t just held for possession of the weapon. The man was also arrested for breaching the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act, as well as interfering with a vehicle.
Following the arrest, he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and is now under medical care.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon at approximately 6:15 am on Wednesday, September 25, near the Peers car park. A bow and arrow were found in his car at the location. He was further arrested for breaching Serious Organised Crime and Police Act legislation and vehicle interference. He was subsequently sectioned under the Mental Health Act and remains in the care of medical professionals.”
Parliament Quiet During Incident
At the time, both the House of Commons and House of Lords were in recess due to party conferences. The Commons last met on September 12, and the Lords on September 13.
The suspect has been bailed pending further inquiries, with a court date set for late December.
