Man Charged After Toddler Bitten by Dog in Greenwich

A 20-month-old toddler was bitten by a dog in Greenwich, sparking fast police action and an arrest.

Emergency Response in Catherine Grove

Police and paramedics rushed to Catherine Grove, SE10, at 10:10 BST on Monday, 2 October, after being called about the dog attack on the young child. The toddler was quickly taken to hospital, where doctors confirmed the injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Owner Arrested, Dog Seized

Officers identified and arrested the dog’s owner at the scene. The dog was seized pending investigations.

Thomas Ackah, 29, from Old Kent Road, SE1, now faces charges of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog. He is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 October.

Breed Under Investigation

The dog is believed to be an XL Bully, although tests are ongoing to confirm the exact breed. Authorities say this is key to understanding how the incident happened and deciding future actions.
