West Midlands police have taken a loaded firearm off the streets after stopping a car in Northfield just before midnight on Christmas Eve.
Chase and Arrest After Vehicle Stop
Three people bolted from the car on Mill Lane. Police quickly caught two after a foot chase.
A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered the weapon.
Charges Filed Over the Christmas Break
Jermaine Vassel, 19, was charged with possession of a firearm on Christmas Day. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Boxing Day (26 Dec) and was remanded ahead of a Crown Court hearing.
A 20-year-old man involved was released on police bail, but with strict conditions attached.
