Sussex Man, 19, Charged with 18 Counts of Rape and Sexual Assault

Sahil Ali, 19, from Shoreham, Sussex, has been hit with 18 serious charges including rape and sexual assault. The offences allegedly target two teenage girls and a woman.

Shocking Allegations Span Nearly Two Years

Ali faces nine counts of rape involving a woman over 16, plus five counts involving a girl aged 13 to 15. Additional charges include assault by penetration, actual bodily harm, and intentional strangulation. Police say these crimes occurred across West Sussex between November 2022 and July 2024.

Victims Known to Suspect, Getting Specialist Support

The victims, a woman in her 30s and two teenage girls, all known to Ali, are now receiving help from specially trained officers. Ali was remanded in custody after appearing at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 10 July. He is due to face Lewes Crown Court on 8 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Cobbett said: “A complex investigation is ongoing into these distressing allegations, and I want to thank the victims for coming forward to report these crimes.”
