A 39-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer after a violent early-morning attack in Newton Abbot.

Brutal Attack on Officer Shocks Community

Guy Pottle, from Exeter, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 11 February. He is accused of attacking a female police constable at a property on Drake Road. The officer was rushed to hospital but has since been released.

Assault Call Turns Dangerous

Police were called just after midnight to a reported assault where a woman sustained minor injuries. During the police response, Pottle allegedly launched a vicious attack on the responding officer.

Pottle was remanded in custody following his court hearing. He is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 12 March.
