St Helens Scrambler Chase Ends with Loaded Gun and Prison Sentence
A 20-year-old man has been jailed after his DNA was found on a loaded handgun seized during a tense police operation in St Helens.
High-Speed Scrambler Chase Sparks Armed Police Arrest
On the afternoon of 4 January 2024, police received urgent reports of three men racing a suspected stolen scrambler bike at breakneck speed along a public path between Ashton Road and Vista Road, St Helens.
Officers gave chase on foot and caught one suspect carrying a loaded handgun. The gun was confirmed as a firearm by ballistics experts.
DNA Links Fourth Man to Weapon
Forensic analysis uncovered the DNA of a fourth man, Marshall Taylor, inside the gun’s internal parts. Taylor, from Bank Street, Newton-le-Willows, was swiftly arrested and charged with possession of a firearm.
Six Years for Taylor
Yesterday (Thursday, 26 March), Liverpool Crown Court sentenced Taylor to six years behind bars for unlawful possession of the handgun, putting the brakes on his criminal activities.
