Gun Found Stashed in Sock Lands Man Behind Bars
A man has been jailed after police uncovered a gun hidden in a sock during a warrant raid in St Ann’s.
Targeted Police Operation Nets Firearm
On the morning of 21 January 2021, officers from the St Ann’s Neighbourhood Team and the City South Operation Reacher unit swooped in a joint, proactive raid. Searching a bedroom, they found a viable firearm with a working trigger, slide, hammer, and firing pin hidden in a sock.
Connor Green, 25, of Botany Avenue, St Ann’s, was arrested on the spot. He later pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and was sentenced to five years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 April 2021.
Police Crack Down on Weapon Crime
“This investigation and its positive outcome was thanks to the hard work of a number of different police departments including CID, response, crime scene investigation, Operation Reacher and neighbourhoods, all working closely together to help build the case,” said Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry.
“Weapon offences have a corrosive effect on community safety. Nottinghamshire Police take these crimes extremely seriously and use multiple tactics, including intelligence-led warrants, to prevent them.”
“We will continue to relentlessly pursue those intent on possessing dangerous weapons and causing harm in our communities.”
Speak Up to Keep Communities Safe
DS Kerry urged anyone with information about illegal weapons to contact Nottinghamshire Police immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111. For emergencies, call 999.
