Teen Arrested After Fatal Stabbing in Croydon Park
15-Year-Old Boy Held Over Murder
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday afternoon, 31 December. He is currently held in custody at a south London police station as investigations continue.
Tragic Stabbing in Ashburton Park
Police rushed to Ashburton Park, Croydon, shortly after 7pm on Thursday, 30 December following reports of an assault. They found a 15-year-old boy with stab wounds. Officers tried to save him with first aid before paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:36pm.
His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support. A post-mortem exam is scheduled for Saturday, 1 January.
Police Urge Community to Speak Up
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, leading the investigation, said: “We’re in the early stages and working hard to uncover what happened. The boy’s family have suffered a terrible loss. We need the community’s help to bring those responsible to justice.”
Superintendent Dan Knowles added: “This tragic killing has deeply affected Croydon. Our officers are increasing patrols and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”
