Teacher Jailed for 14 Years Over Sick Child Sex Abuse
A former teacher has been locked up for 14 years after being found guilty of horrific sexual offences against two boys aged just 13 and 14.
Julius Edwards’ Sick Crimes
Julius Anthony Edwards, 49, from Queens Road, Farnborough, was convicted at Kingston Crown Court today (4 June) following a three-week trial in April. His depraved attacks happened between March and April 2020.
Edwards was found guilty of 18 separate charges, including:
- Sexual activity with boys under 16
- Multiple counts of penetrative sexual abuse
- Sexual assault by penetration
- Attempted sexual activity with boys under 16
- Failure to comply with a notice to provide a key
He also pleaded guilty earlier to attempted sexual communication with a child, taking the total offences to 19.
New Safeguards and Lifetime Ban
Edwards was slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Protection Order and will remain a registered sex offender for life. He is barred from working with children ever again.
How the Abuse Was Exposed
The sick saga came to light after police probed a separate matter involving one of the victims, raising suspicions Edwards was grooming him. The boy bravely spoke out, revealing disturbing contact and online abuse.
Further investigation exposed Edwards’ boasts about abusing other underage boys. A second victim emerged and echoed similar claims of abuse.
The Metropolitan Police also revealed Edwards’ involvement in an undercover sting where an officer posed as a 13-year-old boy online.
The Aftermath
At the time of his arrest, Edwards taught at Dove House School in Basingstoke, but neither victim was a pupil there. Detective Constable Mike Stanley said:
“Edwards is a sexual predator with a dangerous interest in young teenage boys, manipulating them and then lying to cover his actions.”
“I pay tribute to the victims who had to relive their ordeal in court. I hope this sentence gives them closure and helps them move on from this horrific abuse.”
Victims Speak Out
One victim described feeling “trapped” under Edwards’ control, too scared to stop the abuse. The other said the predator had “taken away his basic human rights,” leaving lasting emotional and physical scars — a “life sentence” of pain.
