Moira Man Jailed for Attempted Online Child Sex Offences
Paul McKay Caught Out by Undercover Cop
A 31-year-old man from Moira has been sentenced at Craigavon Crown Court after being caught trying to communicate sexually with a child online.
Paul McKay thought he was messaging a 12-year-old. In reality, he was chatting with an undercover police officer.
Harsh Sentence: Jail, Register, and SOPO
McKay faces nine months behind bars and nine months on licence. He’ll be on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and subject to a seven-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
Police Warn: “We’re Everywhere Online”
Detective Inspector Richard Vasey said: “Let this serve as a reminder to those who think they can go undetected in online spaces. We are everywhere. I have a highly dedicated team with specialised equipment who can trace any digital interaction right back to the person’s front door.”
“We work robustly to bring offenders from behind their screens to face justice.”
