Violent thug jailed for bashing cops after smashing into shop with hammer

Andrew Collier, 27, from Kingsbury, has been locked up for six months after violently attacking two police officers on December 19.

Hammer-wielding Collier launches attack

Collier stormed into a Mill Crescent shop armed with a claw hammer and a mallet. When officers arrived to deal with the scene, he lashed out, punching one cop and trying to headbutt another.

Pleads guilty to assault and weapon charges

The thug admitted to two counts of assaulting police and two counts of carrying offensive weapons in public.

Top cop issues stark warning

Chief Superintendent Ben Smith, head of local policing, slammed the attack: “Officers are often subjected to abuse and violence. It is not simply part of the job, it is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it.”
